Casual
Sports Coach – if you have a Level 1 certificate in sports coaching you can apply to be a Casual Sports Coach. This
means you can work up to 15 hours a week without your benefits being affected if you are on benefit. Candidates
16+
Foundation Certificate in Gym Instructing – The Gym on Hattersley Road East offer this course for £25. The course once completed
gives you the basics of gym instructing and the possibility of moving on to an accredited course and possible employment.
Candidates 15+
Sports Leader Award (equivalent to a Level 1)
– this award is offered locally and once achieved is equivalent
to a Level 1 in sports coaching and the possibility of applying to become a Casual Sports Coach. Candidates
14+
Sport in the Community Certificate – this certificate is offered to local people who would like an insight into Community Sport.
The certificate gives the candidate the opportunity to work voluntary in sports facilities in Hattersley.
Candidates 15+
Volunteer in Sport Portfolio – this portfolio provides the volunteer with evidence to prove to prospective employers that you
are competent in your duties as a volunteer. Candidates 14+
Certificate
in Coaching Football – Level 1 – the Ken Ward Sports Centre
delivers this certificate in conjunction with Cheshire FA. Speak to Gaynor on reception or one of the Football
Development Officers at the Centre if you are interested. Candidates 16+
Connexions
Tameside – ‘Activity Agreement’ – if you are
unemployed and with Connexions Tameside you can request entry to this agreement. This project provides
you with the hours and experience you need to fulfil the agreement. Working in sporting facilities and
with Sport in the Community staff and volunteers can provide you support through the 10 weeks course. Candidates
16-19 years.
